I have had these cassettes for years and to be honest two of them I never sat and gave a listen. Sometimes it's music that when I first hear it I turn my nose up to it and put away but as I get older I pull the LP out and I realize it wasn't the music...it was me not ready for it. Sometimes I just listen to it period.
A Winter's Solstice II is a cassette LP that I have had in my possession for over 10 years and never sat and listen to it until now. Maybe it was because of the title of maybe I thought it was a Christmas LP (which it is not). And I keep forgetting that most of the artists were either classically trained or have a very deep root into Jazz, Bluegrass. Well I have blew the dust off of the cassette LP and I have to admit it's pretty cool.
How come I do stupid stuff like? It's not like tomorrow is promise to me and what if I would have lost these cassette LPs and I would have had to pay full price for them? Oh well, what's done is done and now I am converting them so all is right with the world.
The other cassette I remember listening to NPR and hearing Michael Kamen being interviewed about this piece of work, "Concerto for Saxophone" feat. David Sanborn. I remember hearing the first movement of "Concerto for Sanborn" and I was like, "whoa...I have to get that LP". So I made a trip to my local Streetside Record store and bought the cassette LP. This again was a cassette LP where when hearing the entire piece of work I was not moved by it and put it away for a minute. Now I can listen to it, my queen can listen to it (she thought it was really nice) and now I can share it with the masses.
I have to admit there are some music I purchased and it is not that good but I have to admit, I think I did okay with these selection.
[be on the lookout for me showcasing these 3 LP in April]
Hello everyone,
Last Sunday I think I put too many songs in individual entries in my blogs so what I will begin doing is put 2-3 songs in each of my entries in this blog because I really want to my love for music with everyone here. And a big thanx for everyone that has added me to their neighborhood...I really do appreciate that because I enjoy reading your blogs and networking with everyone.
The tracks are from 3rd Force, ABC, and Shadowfax...
3rd Force's "Between Friends" is from the compilation CD, Keys To The Heart. This is a very beautiful song, upbeat melody. The piano and chimes in the intro puts a smile on my face at the very beginning.
ABC's "Posion Arrow" makes me long for that bubblegum music. To me that is when MTV and VH1 played videos.
Shadowfax's "Road to Hanna" takes me back when first discovered New Age music. Believe it or not I purchase the Windham Hill '88 Sampler from Target of all places. Formed by the late Chuck Greenburg, this track takes me away to a far and distance land each time I hear it (think of the movie, The Neverending Story)
One of my favorite compilation CD is the Windham Sampler '88. I can listen to these tracks over and over again. From the track Wishing Well to Woman at the Well to me this is when Windham Hill Records was at the top of their game.
