When I first heard this track on Macedonia's podcast episode #73 I was sucked into this very haunting, hypnotic track. This track will get heavy rotation on my podcast show because from the opening it puts me in the mind of Electric Light Orchestra's "Stranger". I just know this track will be featured in a movie soon because of the feel of this beautiful composition.
What I really enjoy about this song for me it has a "Blade Runner" feel to it (think of Harrison's character Rick Deckard and Sean Young's character "Rachael"). This track makes me truly think of a Autumn or Spring. When hearing this song(I know I have listened to this song about a ga-zillion times) it puts me in mind of two people who were lonely souls but now have found one another. It puts me in mind that at one time this person hated to see the night comes only to wake up lonely day in and day out but now knowing that special person will be there for him, especially in the morning. Even though they have one another you can sense that they have some obstacles to over come. Overall for me it's a track that is both tragic and heartwarming.
Sometimes with a song one element sticks out but with "Daykeeper" all three elements come together like a well oiled machine...the production of Nicolay, the vocals/story telling of Phonte and the Angelic voice of natural, beautiful Muhsinah will put this song on heavy rotation on many people mp3 players.

We are in Chicago. This is pretty cool on a couple of different levels. First: This is not a turn-around trip. I don't know why we take those at times. Last month we were in at KeyLime Cove resort with the grandboyz. We had a great time but arriving Saturday and leaving Sunday sometimes can be grueling. Over all we had a great time. Second:NO GRANDCHILDREN!!! We love 'em don't get me wrong but to come here and it's just me and my baby and my step-son...very cool because we are all grown and no whining, fussing, having to get at one of them (or as the late Bernie Mac would say, "Do I have to beat one of you until the wheat meat is showing?").
Why are we here in Chicago you may ask? My step-son is trying out for semi-pro football. Try outs are here today(Saturday morning) and afterwards we probably head downtown. Lake Shore Drive is always a blast because of seeing the beautiful buildings, Shed Aquarium, The Navy Pier and just being by Lake Michigan is just a blessing because who know lakes were actually blue and green? Chicago is a really cool place. It's amazing that when me and mom visited Chicago I can't remember going downtown as a child. I remember the cold, the snow but not downtown...well I'm making up for it now.
I like coming to Chicago when it's not too hot and from what I'm seeing for this weekend forcast it's "gonnabekindaright".
Right now as I'm keyboarding this it's around 58F and the high is going to be 74F...Sweet! Going out of town sometimes gives you a perspective on what you need to get in order with your life. Seeing different cultures, different surroundings for me brings a smile to face and makes me truly thankful. As you can see with the photo I took this morning I have to take the razor to my face. Man time got away from me yesterday. I wanted to shave my head and face but after running around getting prepared for Chicago I didn't have time. I will shave my face and thank goodness for baseball caps.
Well that's it for now...I'm sure I will be snapping pics and I will try and post them asap(I am so lazy about that and I really just need to get a Flickr Pro account).

Usually when I produce my podcast I have a mixture of tunes from the podsafe network site iodapromonet and compositions from my own library but this one all of the tracks are from iodapromonet. Another cool thing is that when I download them I listen to a snippet of each track to see if it's either yeah or nay but this go round I took a "leap of faith" and the tunes I'm showcasing are really nice and I know in the future some of these cuts will find their way in a MyLoveForMusic:Twilight episode.[more]
Welcome to another MyLoveForMusic:Twilight. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope the work week has been good to you. Next week I will begin class and this time I will truly have my nose to the grindstone so I don't know when I will be able to bring you another podcast so I hope you enjoy this selection I put together for you.
For me finding quality music has never been an issue with me because for me since I listen mostly to instrumental music, whether jazz, new age, ambient this music has always transcended me to another time and place. This selection could have been put in the MyLoveForMusic category but as I sit hear the playback I put it in the right place.[more]
From the opening of Nikki's podcast with the statement...
You're about to embark on a journey with some of the best Nu Soul, true R&B and some of the best hip hop(true hip hop) with a her podcast. I first ran across Nikki on her Vox blog, a gifted photographer, a young lady that says what's on her mind. As the ol' folks say, "She says what she means and means what she says". This beautiful sister is not only talented behind the lens but from the very her first podcast that began over at Infinite Ink spun off to it's own site each podcast keeps getting better and better.
As one would say about Chris Noth's character Mike Logan with having the "golden gut"(which means he has the gift of sniffing out the bad guys) this young lady has to me the "golden ear". She not only has the gift of finding the some of the best, new Soul music but has a gift of having one song flow into another without missing a beat. Episode 22 I listened to twice on my night job. Knowing when to bring in a track and not have it sounding "choppy" is a craft she is perfecting with every episode. If you have listened to my podcast you have heard me wave about her and to me she's all that and then some.
With instrumental tracks for me it's easy for me to find great tunes because to me unless you are really terrible most of the artists sound great. With Soul, R&B, Hip Hop that is a different matter. In today's market with most artists hide behind the miracles of studio producers only to see them in concert you have wasted your money, Nikki digs deep and finds some of the most talented/gifted brothers and sisters that rarely get commercial radio time and brings them to the forefront and I am so greatful for the hard work she puts into her podcasts each week. When you here the movie snippet(which by the way this young lady has excellent taste when it comes to movies with substance and I think she's may have a thing for Lawrence Fishborne
) the music journey for me takes me back to when true musicians and artists had not only the vocals but the substance of the lyrics brings a smile to my face.
Her latest episode, Soulrific #22 brings me back to the days of Public Enemy, D'Angelo, Maxwell, Eryka Badu. With skills of Talib Kweli(the track "More and Less to me is true Hip Hop), Pete Rock, the soulful richness of Noel Gourdin(the track "Reach" the cut I can listen to over and over). All of the tracks takes me back to living in South City St. Louis. It wasn't the safest place but I never had any problems and living in the city makes you keep it "real" and that is what I love about her choice of compositions...it makes you keep it real. It reminds you "never forget where you come from". What makes her podcast stand out to me is it gets right to the "meat" of things...the music and that is what I truly love about her podcast. The more she keeps producing podcasts the more she's sharpen her craft as not only a producer but a true mixer when it comes to bringing tunes to the masses.
Another thing I love about Nikki is her designs of her sites: minimal but very eye catching. I have asked her where she gets each image but she said she would "have to hurt me"...well she said something else lets just leave it at that(I kid, I kid because I love you sista). But all kidding aside her sites are very nice/clean and draws you in to see what she has to say.
What Nikki has brought to the podcasting community is refreshing and makes me look at the genre that I thought was long gone. I know I have thank you so many times but...
Thank you.

These podcasts I find myself coming back time and time again, laid back, relaxing podcast. I guess this past week has been long one and I was hoping to publish this podcast last week but time got away from me. This podcast was a little long for me as well (close to 90 minutes). I'm going to get back to having just an hour a little over.>>>[more]

This podcast is all over the place (in my eyes) but it's a good thing. Couple of the tracks are kind of on the world music side but it's all good. A couple tracks you may have heard from my earlier ThriftStoreGems podcast but I'm sure you will not mind as long as the tunes are nice.>>>more

I have been sitting on this music for a while and now I have a chance to bring you these ThriftStoreGems. Two cassettes I have never listened to until I converted them. The cassette LPs I converted were Michael Kamen's "Concerto for Saxophone"; Shadowfax's "Esperanto"; Windham Hill Artists' "A Winter's Solstice 2">>>more

I don't know why but for some reason songs from Steely Dan and Donald Fagen has been on my mind for a while. I have wanted to do a Steely Dan/Donald Fagen podcast but the Godfather of podcasting had already created some really cool podcast but my mind would not let me drop it so here it is.>>>more
This is a podcast I have wanted to put together for the longest and now it's finally here. Special EFX has been one of my favorite duos for close to 20 years. I will admit up front this is the first of 3 podcast for this group because with the four cassette LPs I'm showcasing I love every cut on each of their LPs. I will be bringing you three tracks from "Slice of Life", "Mystique", "Double Feature", and "Just Like Magic.>>>more

Sitting
here watching the DNC committee two things come to mind...1. one
candidate does not have the right to change the rules just because it
does not favor their side and 2. I see why some things should be close
to the public. This hearing should not be talking place because of one
simple fact...the rules were broken. If by some far chance that Senator
Clinton gets the nod to run for president, does she really think that
Black America would stand behind her? What she is doing is the same
thing that the Republican party has pulled time and time again. Many
people do not want to admit to it but she thought she would get the nod
just because of who is she. People may try say race is not playing a
part of this but it is. Would this primary have went as far as it has
if Barack were White?>>>more
