At
o4:35am I decided to tackle this podcast and I'm glad I did. For me
most time before the sun comes up my mind is clear, ideas flow through
my little brain and a podcast is born. This podcast was inspired by the
track "Daykeeper" by Foreign Exchange and I think I have a crush on Muhsinah
(yeah, I know...my crushes changes like the weather) but this beautiful
young lady has a very haunting/angelic voice on this track it puts in
mind of waking up with the one you love. You have search high and low
for this special someone but at the same time you never really open up
your heart to anyone until now. When I heard this track on Macedonia's podcast I had to include it in a Twilight podcast (I found out later that Anewlis
had this song in her podcast as well, man I so behind at time when it
comes to music). Big, BIG thanx to the genius Todd Kelley for hooking
me up to the not only the vocal tracks to "Leave It All Behind" but the
instrumental tracks are included so good looking out bro. ^_^
Shadowfax I remember first hearing "Road To Hanna" on the 1998 Windham Sampler and was hooked on them ever since. Although the founder Chuck Greenburg has passed away I am amazed how this group was before it's time and that is when Windham Hill truly loved the music they produced and when the founder Will Ackerman had his hand in mostly all of the LPs that came from Windham Hill Record and it was not a bad thing. When Windham Hill Records grew into a juggernaut he sold his stake in the company and headed back to Vermont and to his roots and I believe he is much happier now. "Shaman Song" has that mixture of World/Acoustic/Electric feel to it. I love how each of these elements blend into one beautiful song
"Get Here" is a song that is both beautiful and yet sad at the same time. Oleta Adams voice and her piano playing makes you truly feel true love and true love lost whenever notes comes from her beautiful voice. What else sticks out to me is the fretless bass that is playing in the background. To me it brings out the true expression of this composition.
Kim Water's "Secret Romance" has the out on a Sunday Stroll kind of feel. I play the heck out of his "Someone To Love" LP and now I need to begin checking out this LP. You so many talented saxophone players out here and time and time again Mr. Waters comes out with a LP that makes seat back and say, "dang dude, you did it again."
I first showcased this track doing my podcast dedicated to my lovely queen and every now and then I have to pull this out and throw it in the line up. "If I Knew" by Jimmy Sommers has that smooth/laid back/silky feel to it. You have no choice but to keep your feet and nod your head.
The cool thing about Nicolay is whether if he has vocals over his mixes are just instrumental you play them again, again, again. Maybe it's just me happy that Fall is here but I it has that "brisk" feel to it. "All or Nothing/Coming Home to You" just has that air of everything is going to be alright no matter what the circumstance vibe. I have to get my hands on as much of his work as I can because I have a feeling this will not be the last time I will showcase his music on my podcast.
From the opening thick, rich bass line from Walter Becker on the track "Snowbound" for the song can go no where but "up". I think this was the very first cd I bought when I finally purchased a 3-CD player from Best Buy. Every song from the "Kamakiriad" LP takes you on the journey with Donald Fagen as he takes his travels in his Kamakiriad and on every stop you don't mind chilling with him. I love this track because it makes you slow down and just "be" and in this world of ours today we need that and the horn arrangements lets me truly realize how much of a great songwriter Mr. Fagen is time and time again.
The more I hear this piano solo composition by Liz Story the more I fall in love with it. Tracks like this make me seat and self reflect whether if it's good times or bad times it make me sit and reflect on what I need to do when it comes to certain issues in my life. "Church of Trees" for me is a song that makes you take long walks and have one-on-one conversations with God and take hold of all of the blessings I have in my life. I may not be rich but I am rich when it comes to the major things in my life...a healthy relationship, employment, being about to pay my bills, and of course to bring you these podcasts. ^_^
I still have this complilation LP on cassette. I think in the late 80's and early 90's I began to find my feel on what music I truly enjoy and when I stumbled upon "Narada Collections Vol. 2" I was hooked and this track from Colin Chin was one of the composition that sealed the deal for me. I loved smooth jazz/new age music and that was that. No longer did I feel ashamed and out of place. "The Alluvial Plains" is a very relaxing, beautiful arrangement and with the help of Mark Isham really gives it that calm/mellow feel to it.
You have heard me say time and time again that Prefab Sprout did not get the respect they richly deserved here in the states. To me, Paddy McAloon is one of the best songwriters around. The only hit they had stateside was "When Love Breaks Down" but the entire "Two Wheels Good" is very intelligently written and the composition are masterly arranged. "Cars and Girls" is another track that when I hear brings a smile to my face and "The Best of Prefab Sprout: Life of Suprises" is a must have in your music libary.
Another LP you need in your library is "Dreamcatcher" from Andy McKee. I have showcase tunes by this gifted acoustic guitarist and "I Will See You Again"
is another track that blows me away. If you have had a rough day, throw
on this LP and just let your cares melt away. The arrangement with this
track is very cool.
Whenever I hear songs by Seal it puts me in mind of movies like "I am Legend", "Children of Men", "Equilibrium"...very furturist, struggling for the good of men. "Tinsel Town" for me paints a world that is bleak, hopeless, a quick fix for happiness that will not last. Not all of his songs leaves me feeling drained and dark but this one tells off on Hollywood (that's if he's talking about Hollywood but it sure paints a picture of how it really is doesn't he?).
The opposite is true when hearing Nicolay's "Hey!" I love playing this song, over and over and over and over...you get the message. For me this track showcase the city lights, hanging out with your friends just enjoying life. Sometime this month and the following months I have to make a pledge to get a LP by Nicolay every pay period so I can really dig into this genius music collage. ^_^

First and foremost I want to give a big shout out to my brother Macedonia for getting me straight when it comes to me doing my podcast shows. I have been feeling, well, sorry for myself and my brother in podcasting made me snap out of it and made me realize why I do what I do so thanx so much bruh.

What's
going on people? Seems like I have been away for about 2 months but
it's only been 2 weeks. I had my last class for the spring and now it's
time for me to just relax (just for a minute at least). It's amazing
how sometimes you lose your way in reference to who you are, and why do
one begin projects in the first place.
This past week I have begun listening to my past podcast shows to see how I have improved, what can I do better, what to change, what to leave alone and I have come to the conclusion that the reason why I began this music internet show was to share my different taste in music. It's funny how growing up I knew sometime down the road I would be able to share the music I enjoyed in the order I wanted, I didn't know how this was going to happen but I knew this is what I wanted to do. My very first podcast really reflected that but by the time I recorded "MyLoveForMusic: 19 April episode" I think I allowed myself to slip on that recording but I think when I recorded "MyLoveForMusicExtra:Twilight" I redeemed myself.
This episode is just me "relaxing" and getting my feel again in this wonderful world of podcasting. I have to give a big shout out to Fave, Macedonia, Doug Fresh for making me realize that the best way to put out great shows is to sometimes review your work, don't take yourself too serious, and most important, always, ALWAYS be true to yourself.

The cool thing about not having a format you can play and listen to anything you wish. But as my favorite detective Adrian Monk says, "it's a blessing...and a curse". When having a little bit of every type of music in your line up you get a little bit of everyone and it may take you little longer to build a following. I'm looking at my podcast now as a conduit for music to let people know it's cool to listen to The Carpenters and Sound Garden in one whop.
When it comes to me picking music it's no formula I go by in most cases. Sometimes I may put together a podcast by lyrics, or by certain musicians that stand out to me at the time but for most of the time what ever composition pops in my head and if it blends together in my mind I put it together.
A BIG welcome to my brother in podcasting Fave. Last Friday he came back with a great podcasts[the return] & [throwback] and I know I speak for many of my brothers and sisters in podcasting that this cat has made us all step our game up when it comes to putting together a show.
Another podcast that stood out to me this week is from Nikki's Soulrific episode #3. This music takes me back when I used to sit in the barber shop, listening to everyone shoot the breeze while laid back, smooth soul, Jazz, R&B music play in the background.
DJ Diva put together a on point podcast with music of Frankie Beverly & Maze. Whenever I hear Maze feat. Frankie Beverly reminds me of all of the Budweiser Superfest this group has hosted over the years. I remember seeing him in concert back in the 90s at the Superdome in New Orleans.
